The Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) Paediatric Society is pleased to announce the 13th annual National Student Paediatric Conference will be going ahead.

Saturday 13th May

This year’s theme is:

Growing Pains: Overcoming Childhood Challenges

Delegates can expect a day of talks, small-group case-based discussions, hands-on workshops and Q&A panels run by leading experts in the field of Paediatrics.

The conference will provide delegates with a complimentary breakfast, lunch, tea, coffee and refreshments throughout the day as well as the opportunity to enter the BSMS poster competition.

The day will finish with a black-tie ball where delegates will receive a three-course meal, a welcome drink and half a bottle of wine per person (or a suitable non-alcoholic alternative), as well as free entry to a night out following the ball. Guests will have the opportunity to enter a raffle to win prizes, with all proceeds of the raffle going to the Amaze Sussex, Rockinghorse Foundation and Chestnut Tree House charities.

TO BE CONFIRMED...

The Annual National Student Paediatric Conference is one of BSMS’s most anticipated annual events, bringing together students and healthcare professionals from across the country.

Please note that ticket prices will be increasing after the early bird period so make sure to make the most of this offer now!

Who Can Attend?

Although the conference is organised by students at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, the content is relevant to students in any healthcare discipline as well as education so we warmly welcome our colleagues from the Nursing, Midwifery, Paramedic Science and Education courses at the Universities of Brighton and Sussex, in addition to those from elsewhere in the world who choose to attend. If students are visiting from other universities, feel free to contact us and we can help find appropriate accommodation.

About the 2022 Conference:

In 2022 Paedsoc hosted the 11th annual National Student Paediatric Conference. The theme was 'Exploring the Wider Issues of Child Health'. The aim of the day was to enlighten the attendees to the different pathways in paediatrics, provide interactive workshops, have talks delivered by guest speakers, host a Q&A where there was an opportunity to ask any desired questions about the specialty and host a poster competition. In addition to this breakfast, lunch and refreshments were provided to those who attended. As per tradition a black tie ball was hosted at the Jury's Inn on the Brighton Seafront where a 3 course meal was served, drinks were provided and entertainment such as a raffle was hosted. Money from the raffle went to the 3 local charities supported by the committee in 2021/22; Amaze, Make a Smile and Whoopsadaisy.

About the 2021 Conference:

Last year due to social distancing guidelines, we hosted the conference online through a series of virtual lectures with a range of speakers as an alternative.

The Lecture Series was a great success, and we look forward to welcoming you back in person for the 2022 Conference!

About the 2020 Conference:

We are so proud to have hosted the 9th National Student Paediatric Conference (NSPC) on the 29th February 2020 at the University of Brighton.

The theme of the conference was 'Shaping the Future of Paediatrics: A day discussing Paediatric Career Pathways'.

The aim of the conference was to provide delegates with the opportunity to explore a variety of career pathways in Paediatrics, participate in smaller group seminars and network with leading Paediatric Specialists. All delegates received breakfast, lunch and refreshments throughout the day and a certificate of attendance.

As per tradition, we then celebrated the end of the conference with a Black Tie Ball at the Jury's Inn on the Brighton Seafront. The ball featured arrival drinks, a three course meal and entertainment throughout the night including a raffle to raise money for our chosen charities: Haydn's Wish, Whoopsadaisy and Rockinghorse.
